PTA launches new online system to block lost and stolen mobile phones

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has launched a new automated system to prevent lost, stolen and snatched mobile phones.

Entitled 'Lost and Stolen Device System (LSDS)', the new system will make it easier and more convenient for users who want to retrieve mobile phones in case of theft, snatching or blocking.

A PTA spokesperson said in a statement, "Complainants can easily file a petition with the PTA to block IMEI of such handsets to prevent possible misuse."

Under the new system, a stolen mobile phone will be blocked within 24 hours of reporting after the necessary verification.

According to the statement, LSDS is an automated system that integrates with PTA's device identification, registration and blocking system (DIRBS).

How to Registered a complaint for Stolen Phones?

To block cell phones, users must submit an application to PTA through their online Complaint management system (CMS) available at PTA Website. Once the complaint is filed, the complainant will receive a reference number after successful registration of the blocking request.

For any information or questions, users can contact the PTA Consumer Support Center on toll free number 0800-55055. This number will be working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week from 9 am to 9 pm.

How to Unblock Mobile After Recover Stolen Mobile Phones?

If a phone has been recovered, the complainant will have to follow the same procedure for blocking via CMS and also mention his / her complaint number along with the required details to block the mobile phone. Was given to them first. The PTA statement said, "Once [the mobile] is immovable, the user will receive an SMS to the registered number."


Currently, users can block and unblock a lost, stolen or snatched mobile phone with their toll free number or by sending an email to or via CPLC Karachi. However, with the launch of the new system, these mediums will no longer be available to consumers.
